diy pixel dress

I think this is the best garment I have ever made.

I still consider myself on the beginner side of intermediate when it comes to sewing, since I have followed commercial patterns and not much else.  But I felt as though my skills got a little more refined with this one, since I adapted a pattern, and had to deal with print matching (a new concept for me!).

It all started when I found this incredible pixel fabric, and knew it would be perfect for a dress to wear to PAX East (on our non-cosplay day).  For some reason, I see it as a floral print – but maybe I’m just imagining things? 🙂

nufonia must fall


Last week I mentioned that Dave and I saw an awesome show for our anniversary.

We both really like the DJ Kid Koala – we have seen him spin live with Deltron 3030 (a hip hop/rap group).   Well, in the early 2000s he wrote a graphic novel and has since turned it into a stage production, complete with puppets and live music!  The show, “Nufonia Must Fall,” was being performed at the ICA in Boston, and we knew we just had to go.  Here’s a little more info about the show:

an evening with charles saint harvard

Before I start this post, let me tell you that night photos are tough!  If anyone out there has tips for night photography, please send them my way!

In Harvard, there is a ridiculous building that looks like a man – the Harvard Lampoon Building.  My friends and I always joke that his name is Charles Saint Hahhhvahhd (that’s “Harvard” with a Boston accent, of course), and that he is some kind of wealthy diplomat that oversees Harvard Square. (yea, we’re strange).
